I am starting to put out my blog reports! I wanted to make this little intro just to explain in a few words what it is (if you don’t know), why I decided to do it too (“too” because quite a lot bloggers do it) and what to expect.

Note. To have a look at all of my blog report click HERE!

What is a blog report

Blog report is a post where all blog’s statistic data is collected and explained. For example, how many pageviews a blog had this month, how many pageviews compared to last month, how much a blog has earned, Social Media stats, and all of this alongside with marketing strategies used or tried etc.

If you are interested, here are some bloggers I know make Blog reports (or made them in past) – The Nerdy Me, Anne smiles and Melyssa Griffin (Melyssa’s specialty is blog+biz content, so if you are interested in growing your blog, check her out, she’s goooood :) ).

Why I chose to start writing blog reports

I am terrible at stats. Ok, it might be an overstatement. ;) But I do struggle with analyzing blog data in a structured and meaningful way. Especially monthly. So my main reasons are:

  1. To have a structure of what data to track.
  2. Visualize the collected data in a good layout.
  3. Analyze the collected data.
  4. Make suggestions for me to improve my marketing actions or other activities.

Why make the blog reports public?

I think it will be easier for me to make the effort to make the blog report and analyze the data if I have to make it in a blog post – kind of for other people, but not really. ;)

Also, I want to have a transparent webpage. Even though it does feel kind of weird sharing my marketing strategies or other inside bits like that with the public, I think it is also freeing. Nothing to hide – one less thing to worry about. I also think it will help me with not being ashamed of my “small” numbers etc. Sounds weird, right? But when something is a secret, it feels more “shameful”. And this way, I’ll just be open and grow my own confidence, and most likely it will help Lookforsmile to be more authentic as well. Because when you hide something (either in your personality, or habits, or thoughts etc), you make a glass wall that limits yourself and makes you more fragile and vulnerable. If you know what I mean. And, maaan, blog report intro post very quickly became a “be happy” type of post. :D

What’s coming

I am not sure yet about the structure, because I still haven’t made any blog reports, but the idea is to have one for every month published around the second week of the next month (so July blog report should be up around 2nd week of August).

I also have a hope that by sharing my blog stats, I will inspire other bloggers (or make them feel less bad about their blog stats :D ;) ) and maybe we can learn from each other or maybe even make some good blogger collabs! :)

That’s about it! :)

So let’s see how this goes!

Are you a blogger and are you publishing your blog reports as well? Or you keep them private? :) Let me know in the comments, I want to know!

  1. This is so interesting. I honestly never thought about sharing blog report but reading this post I realized that it has a lot of benefits. I started to write my blog report in my notebook just recently and I’m still trying to figure it all out but maybe one day I’ll share mine as well. x

I never really took too seriously analyzing blog’s statistic data even though I knew it can give some good insights. And it takes a few moments to figure it out, that’s true! :/ Looking forward to reading your blog reports one day! :)
