So happy to see you there. :) As you know, Thursdays are for Eco-posts but I am not still 100% actively pursuing everything I want to do eco and zero waste wise in my life (BOOOO). Sooo I thought I will just share reasons why YOU should also care about zero waste or at least consider introducing some eco-habits into your daily life. You know, humans act as they own the Planet and can just take, take and take from it. But we also need to take care of our Planet and nature, because we NEED this Earth! :O Humans without this Planet are like YouTubers without their subscribers – just regular people without jobs who like to film themselves. Actually, humans without this Planet are much worse – we just wouldn’t exist. This Planet is a gift and we a lot of times are treating it as granted. Modern lifestyle is what it is, but, for example, reducing plastic use WON’T HURT anyone. Instead of buying your fruit in a plastic bag you can just put it in a cloth one. We need to change the overall mindset of fast usage to sustainable and nature AND body friendly one. I know you love this Earth and enjoy the nature and your vacations in exotic places as much as everyone would. Then take steps and show a little respect and care for the Planet that gives you food, clothes, beautiful face (aka cosmetic) and amazing experiences indoors and outdoors!

What are the things that inspire you the most to be eco-friendly or go zero waste? :)

  1. Thank you for raising awareness! Unfortunately too many people take everything for granted, or have the ‘but what I do won’t make a difference’ kind of mindset. It does!! We all have an impact and we can all change the world. It’s so nice to see more and more people caring about this issue. Changing our lifestyle is difficult, I’m still making little changes little by little to use less plastic and less waste as a whole, but it is so worth it.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey to 0 waste! (well, 0 is almost impossible, but you know what I mean ;) ) x

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! :) Oh I am embarrassed to admit that I am awful at zero waste. :/ I did try some alternatives but they just weren’t good enough for me so for the moment I am living the regular life again. For me the difficulty is also the fact that you need to be more social with strangers to be zero waste, at least for now in this World. And as I told you on your blog, I do struggle with it. I sometimes like to just don’t communicate, if possible. :D Not always. But to deal with asking in a shop, can I use my linen bag for fruits or smth EVERY TIME… That is a lot of pressure for a grocery shopping experience. Not saying I shouldn’t do it, I really don’t want to make excuses, but that is something that comes harder to me than to other people. :) But anyways, would love if the big companies would care more for the Environment. That would be awesome. :)

      • I completely understand, as I am the same haha. Buying in a supermarket is sometimes easier than going to the market and having to ask for the person to select all your fruit and veg for you. It really scares me so I can’t manage to do it all the time. Baby steps. I try and change at least one element a month, or every two months!

For example I stopped buying plastic water bottles and have a re-usable bottle (but I also live where we can drink tap water, not all countries have that luxury), I switched from a bottled shampoo to a solid shampoo that has no packaging, I bought washable period pads to avoid throwing so much each month, and I recently went for a specific glove-type material to wash my face, to avoid having to buy products, and therefore throwing away plastic bottles. Little by little change is possible! But it does take time, research, and in some cases a bit more money. There are many things that we can do, like go shopping in charity and second-hand shops, where we can also find trendy and good quality clothes. Every little bit helps :D

Unfortunately the biggest companies, and the products that are most accessible to us are the ones that harm the planet the most, so I try and force myself to go the extra mile to buy what’s best (or at least better).

Anxiety can really be a pain and can prevent us from doing a lot of things, I try and see what I can do to help that doesn’t make me feel horrible haha!
But you are not alone in this, and please don’t feel embarrassed, it’s not your fault and you can’t control it. <3

Thank you for leaving this lovely reply! :) I really appreciate it. <3

It looks like in Latvia they are planning to ask people to pay for the little plastic bags you put your fruits and veggies in in a supermarket. They are not banning plastic bags, but if you have to buy the bag, maybe more people will choose not to use them as much. There's a hope.

I was really excited about this project – edible “water bottles”! :) I am happy to see that there are people in science that are working on solutions.

Thank you! :) You do inspire me to be more ‘green’ myself. :)

Yeah, definitely a step forward, even though it’s not enough. Since often they’ll be very cheap, it won’t necessarily change people’s minds not to buy them.

Oooh yeah I’ve heard about that project! It looks pretty cool. I’d love to try one haha.

That’s lovely of you to say, thank you! <3

  2. Excellent blog very different from your usual ones and truly enjoyable to read. Thanks a lot for the pearls of wisdom :)
